Managing Store Properties is one of the best ways to make FranchiseBlast work for your organization. Rather than keeping information about stores on a separate shared spreadsheet, you can now have that information all in one place. Making property information hidden or visible to specific groups of users helps make sure that the right people are seeing the right information. Learn about getting started with properties here

To get started, go to Stores > Stores > Tap Relevant Store > Tap Custom Properties Tab

Add Property Group

Tap Edit Properties on the top right to add a new properties group

You will then see the exising property groups listed.

Click the green plus on the top left as indicated.

Imagine the Marketing Group wants to track the official handles of franchisees on various social media sites, so that they can perform a yearly audit.

The following information can be added:

  • Reference Name: This is your internal name for the property - it can include a version number or other internal identifiers.
  • Default Language: If your property groups appear in different languages, select the one you would like to appear as a default.
  • Active: This makes it so the questionnaire is visible and taking responses, or inactive.

Under Editing, you can then start adding what will appear on the questionnaire.

Add Title

Your title is what the properties will appear as to other users. To add it, type into the title box.

Add Subgroup

Adding subgroups allows you to add structure to your properties for the people filling it in.

Click the + subgroup as indicated on the left and fill in the fields.

When your properties get more complex, you can have levels of Subgroups.

In this property group, you can see that you can add subgroups under 1.9, under 1 or the grey subgroup button means that you can add it to the overall questionnaire. Thes are similar to bullet points, and sub bullet points when creating a document.

For example, Indeed had some details with the Employer URL and the Official Job Description, so they were put under 1.9 as 1.9.1 and 1.9.2 respectively.

Add Property

Now you can add the main content of the Property Group, the individual properties.

To get started, click on the +property button as indicated on the left.

You can then select the type of property that you want, along with starring it if it is required.

Keep repeating this process as you fill in the property list.

Click this button to click on the properties of advanced settings.

Here you can change the following settings:

  • Editable for: Define who can edit the property, whether it be Franchisee and Above, Franchisor Staff and Above or Franchisor
  • Visible for: Define who can see the property, whether it be for Franchisee and Above, Franchisor Staff and Above of Franchisor. Please note that to hide property groups from a specific group of users, you need to do that for all of the properties. For example, if I wanted to hide a property group from franchisees, I would choose Franchisor Staff and Above for all questions.
  • Documentation: Documentation is some added text that help people understand what they need to add for the property. For example you could put a reference in your franchise manual for more information.
  • Placeholder Text: This shows some default text that shows in the box, further guiding the user.

Remove a question by clicking on the red x on the left.

Edit Property Group Structure

Sometimes you want to rearrange the questions on a property group or move a property from one Subgroup to another. To get started, go to Edit Structure tab.

Moving Questions

Move questions up and down using the arrows indicated.

Move questions up and down sections by clicking the icons indicated.

Cut and copy questions by using the scissor icon for cutting and the documents icon for copying.

Imagine that if in my franchise system, Instagram is the most valuable marketing activity, so we want to move that up.

Start by tapping the Scissor icon. Then, as you hover to other questions, you can see options to paste it before and after question.

To remove a question or section, click the red X on the left.

Make Property Group Not Visible to Certain Users

To make a property group not viewable by a specific set of users, you need to change the Visible For to that group.  For example, if I wanted to hide a property group from franchisees, I would choose Franchisor Staff and Above for all questions.
