Objectives are of no use if your team forgets about them. Keeping strategies top of mind with your team throughout the period of a plan will increase their effectiveness.

Here are a few ways you can drive the adoption of the program within your team:

  • Publish objectives visible to everyone to drive accountability and ownership

  • Implement a check-in process with fixed interval to drive adoption

  • Clearly define where key results come from to reduce friction on check-ins

You can utilize check-ins with Business Plans in FranchiseBlast to ensure that your team is engaged throughout the lifetime of a strategic plan, and that key results are updated regularly.

Check-ins also provide you with a pulse of the progress your team is making throughout the duration of a period, and the confidence they have in reaching the objectives.  It allows you to quickly pivot ineffective initiatives put-in place before you reach the end of the period under evaluation.

On each check-in, a team member updates the status of ongoing initiatives and the key results for each objective.  They also provide an update on the confidence they have in reaching objectives.

This can be done via a conversation between a franchisee and a coach to discuss the objectives where the coach completes the check-in for the franchisee.  However, you ultimately would want to reach a point where franchisees are performing check-ins on a regular basis by themselves.

Next Steps

Get started for the upcoming quarter.

Perform an initial check-in for all objectives with each franchisee in your team.

Get started by performing an initial check-in with franchisees within their Business Plan in FranchiseBlast.  Utilize this first check-in to update each key result to their current value and get a starting point.

Schedule a meeting for the next check-in with each franchisee in your team.

Set a meeting date with each franchisee to perform a sanity check on how they are doing and help them through the next check-in.  Over time, you should work towards having franchisees completing the check-ins by themselves and focus on coaching them instead.

Perform a post-mortem planning meeting with each franchisee

Before the end of the period, utilize a post-mortem meeting to evaluate the performance of the previous period, review new areas of opportunities, and plan the objectives for the next period accordingly.
