Metrics can be analyzed in a variety of reports within FranchiseBlast such as dashboard widgets and insights scorecards. There are several ways for organization owners and administrators to import data for metrics into FranchiseBlast.

  • Set up an integration with one of the 20+ vendors we support to automatically import metric data on a reoccurring basis.  Learn more about integrations

  • Polls can be set up in the application to automatically poll groups of locations in a business system to collect data for a variety of metrics, on a one-off or reoccurring basis.  Get started with polling today

  • Import Excel/.CSV metric data files - either manually through our customer success team,  or automatically with an FTP server or email integration.

The imported data can then be visualized from the metric data exploration area.

Poll a Group of Locations to Collect Data for Metrics

Polls can be set up in the application to collect data for metrics from groups of locations in your system.  It's as simple as setting up a questionnaire and specifying which groups of locations to poll and when to poll them.

Importing an Excel/.CSV File Manually

Metric data can be imported from an Excel/.CSV file format into FranchiseBlast containing the metric data broken down per location.

Headers        |    StoreID            |    StartDate     |    EndDate    |    Net Sales    |    Transaction Count    |    ...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Data              |    DEMO001        |    01/01/2019 |  01/31/2019 |      30000       |              8150                |

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The required headers for a metric data file to be imported as a .csv must be arranged in the format illustrated above.

  • StoreID: This column lists the unique identifier of the location for which we're importing a data row for.

  • StartDate: This column lists the start date for the period of data being imported in a given location row for all metrics.

  • EndDate:  This column lists the end date of the period of data being imported in a given location row for all metrics.

  • MetricName(s): You can have as many MetricName columns specified in the other columns. The metric names headers must match the Short Name of metrics that are already defined in FranchiseBlast. In each of these columns, the actual data point value will be listed for a location's row specified period.

In the example above, we are importing values for two metrics, Net Sales and Transaction Count, for the period of January 2019 and location DEMO001.  The Net Sales for this period were $30,000 and the Transaction Count 8,150.

Once the file is ready to import, contact our customer success team to import the data into the system for you.

Importing Excel/.CSV Files Automatically with an FTP Server

As an alternative to having to contact our customer success team each time a metric data file needs to be imported, an FTP server can be set up where files can be dropped by your team for import into the system.

The file format for files dropped into an FTP server integration has to be the same as the format described in the previous section to import Excel/.CSV files manually into the application.

For further information on how to set up an FTP server to import metric data automatically, please contact our customer success team.

Exploring Metric Data

The metric data of all metric integrations and manual imports combined can be explored by organization owners and administrators from Support Tools > Metrics > Explore Metric Data.

The Date Range field is used to select the period for which the metric data is to be explored.  Once a metric data report query has been made, the Search field can be used to filter the data table by StoreID.

If you'd like to request to be granted access to explore metric data, please contact our customer success team.
