There are a few concepts that are essential to understand in order to be able to work with our polling module easily .  One of them is called a poll definition.  A poll definition defines the following settings :

  • Which store is going to be polled ( e.g. all stores in the franchise, or a subset of stores contained in a store group )
  • The schedule at which you are going to poll the recipients ( e.g. daily at 3:00 pm ), and when you want to stop receiving answers
  • Which questionnaire to poll recipients with ( e.g. a critical checklist that the franchisees must comply to daily )
  • The notification schedule of each poll ( e.g. send a notification email on launch of the poll, then another one an hour after to recipients who have not answered yet)
  • Which type of users to notify when each notification is sent ( e.g. only the franchisee(s) or non-franchisee staff as well)
  • The data collection period ( e.g. you want to collect data monthly for the previous month on each poll

Polls are then scheduled to be launched from this poll definition according to these settings when this definition it marked as active.  If the poll definition is inactive it will not schedule any poll and no notification will be sent as a result.
